League Play
All games are to 21 points (you do not have to win by 2 – the first team to 21 wins). Matches are always played to 3 games.
Teams are ranked according to:
sets won;
if tied in sets, the team that won the match between the two tied teams;
in the case of a three-way tie in sets, then we rank according to points scored.
It is the responsibility of each team captain to ensure the point scores of each game are recorded. Scores must be recorded on master sheet which will be either by the shed or by the benches. If scores are not recorded, efforts will be made to find out who won each game. If actual scores can not be determined, default scores of 21-10 will apply.
Teams that cannot play a league scheduled game must notify opposing captains by 8 p.m. the evening before. Notifications that do not meet this criterion will qualify as a forfeit.
Matches are to start at the time listed (or 5 minutes after the previous match ends). If a team does not have three players at match time, 1st game forfeited after 10 min and the match after 20 min. Three match forfeits will result in ejection from the league.
Officially rescheduled matches will be moved to Sunday evenings (6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Only if both Tier 1 and Tier 2 have to be rescheduled for Sunday, the following times will apply: Tier 2 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Tier 1 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Only players who are active registered players on the team roster AND play in regular league round robin can play in league playoffs. The term active registered player is defined as a player who has played at least one complete match (3 sets) on 3 or more separate nights of the regular season. Any exceptions must be approved by league officials. Rosters are to be submitted electronically.
The season schedule will be played in a “serpentine system”. Playoffs will be hosted for each tier. All teams will make playoffs.
Schedules will be posted on-line by Thursday evening for Tier 1 and by Monday evening for Tier 2.
Spares: Teams may pick up a male spare if they only have 1 male player from their roster (even if they have 3 females present from their roster) and vice versa (reminder: max 2 men on the court). Special allowances may be made to compensate for injuries etc.
